More than cancer patients

My name is Maria Divina O’Brien, and like a growing number of women at a variety of ages, I am fighting breast cancer. Despite the many ways that cancer might scare us, I have decided to focus my journey on the ways in which it challenges me to make the most of every day, and all of the tools I have been given to bring joy to others and enrich my life.

Making my artwork brings me so much joy and peace, I create these images with the intention of exploring this gift, and connecting to a community of survivors at the same time.

I am a Google Women Techmakers Ambassador and a Director of Mindwise Project, a local mental health non profit that focuses on improving access to trusted mental health resources in Trinidad and Tobago.

Through this work, I have identified a gap in the provision of listings to support the psychosocial welfare of cancer patients and will be curating resources to share on this website and on our National Crisis and Emergency Directory of Services- www.findcarett.com
